Epitome of Simplicity and Strength: MTMS Remembers Lal Bahadur Shastri on His Jayanti

“Discipline, hard work and sincerity are the keys to a better future.” — Lal Bahadur Shastri Every year on October 2, alongside Gandhi Jayanti, our country remembers one of its most revered leaders, freedom fighters, and visionary statesmen: India’s second Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), observing Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti is an opportunity to introduce our students to a life defined by unyielding integrity, quiet determination, and humble public service. His life stands as a testament to our school’s foundational pillars of Leadership, Wisdom, Compassion, and Growth. A True Leader and a Simple Man Lal Bahadur Shastri demonstrated that true leadership does not stem from privilege or ostentation, but from moral courage, honesty, and humility. Emerging from modest beginnings, his steadfast principles guided India through critical junctures with resilience and unwavering faith in the nation’s people. At MTMS, we reflect on his historic contributions: The Power of Honesty & Humility: He showed that simplicity of lifestyle and strength of character can move a nation. “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”: By honoring the soldier defending our borders and the farmer tilling our soil, he underscored the dignity of hard work, self-sufficiency, and service to the motherland. Integrity in Action: From stepping down on moral grounds to taking bold decisions during challenging times, his life serves as a guide for ethical decision-making. Lessons for the Learners at MTMS In an era of rapid technological progress, Shastriji’s core message remains as vital as ever for young minds: Discipline: Cultivating daily focus, consistency, and respect in academic and personal routines. Hard Work: Believing in persistent effort and perseverance rather than shortcuts. Sincerity: Approaching studies, friendships, and societal responsibilities with genuine dedication. Carrying the Legacy Forward As we educate the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and nation-builders, we encourage our learners to internalize Shastriji’s example—standing tall with conviction while remaining grounded in humility and selfless service. Walking the Path of Truth and Non-Violence: MTMS Commemorates Gandhi Jayanti 2026

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” — Mahatma Gandhi Every year on October 2, the nation pauses to honor the life, ideals, and enduring legacy of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), Gandhi Jayanti is an occasion to reflect on how timeless principles can be integrated into the daily actions, character, and learning of our students. Rooted in our foundational values of Leadership, Wisdom, Compassion, and Growth, the school community gathered to remember Bapu’s teachings on truth, simplicity, peace, and selfless service. Reflecting on Gandhian Ideals Through Student Voices To commemorate the occasion, students held thoughtful reflection sessions on campus, presenting key messages that continue to inspire humanity: “Truth is the foundation of all human virtues.” Students highlighted the importance of Satya (truthfulness) in academic honesty, everyday communication, and moral integrity. “Small acts of kindness can create a better world.” Aligning Bapu’s philosophy of empathy with Mother Teresa’s spirit of service, learners explored how everyday compassion within school and family environments nurtures harmony. “Gandhi Jayanti: A day to remember, a life to inspire.” Group discussions centered around the Charkha—a symbol of self-reliance, patience, and dignity of labor that remains relevant in modern education. Living the Principles of Swachhata and Ahimsa Gandhi Jayanti at MTMS goes beyond words into concrete action: Cleanliness as a Habit (Swachhata): Students participated in campus tidiness drives, taking personal responsibility for keeping classrooms, study desks, and common areas clean, honoring Gandhiji’s belief that cleanliness is next to godliness. Non-Violence (Ahimsa) in Conduct: Through assemblies and classroom discussions, students were encouraged to resolve conflicts through dialogue, patience, and mutual respect, fostering a safe, peaceful campus environment. Self-Reliance and Discipline: Drawing lessons from the spinning wheel (Charkha), learners reflected on the value of self-discipline, steady perseverance, and respect for all forms of honest work. Shaping Responsible Citizens of Tomorrow True education must build conscience alongside competence. By celebrating the life of Mahatma Gandhi, MTMS recommits to guiding young minds toward ethical leadership, grounded humility, and active citizenship. Let us follow the path of Truth, Non-violence, Kindness, and Service for a brighter tomorrow. Happy Gandhi Jayanti to all! 🕊️🇮🇳

Natural Offerings: The idol was reverently placed on a decorated altar flanked by fresh marigold and hibiscus garlands, sweet modaks, and his faithful vahana, Mushakraj. Aarti and Mass Chanting Assembly The celebrations reached their peak during a special gathering in the school auditorium: Traditional Aarti: Teachers and school leaders performed the traditional aarti, lighting the holy lamp (diya) and wafting incense as devotional hymns echoed through the halls. Unified Student Chants: Students sat together in orderly rows on the auditorium floor, raising their hands and filling the air with enthusiastic chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya!” Collective Reflection: A short message was shared highlighting the values of Lord Ganesha—intellect, thoughtful listening, humility, and the determination to overcome obstacles in life and studies.
