Walking the Path of Truth and Non-Violence: MTMS Commemorates Gandhi Jayanti 2026

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” — Mahatma Gandhi

Every year on October 2, the nation pauses to honor the life, ideals, and enduring legacy of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), Gandhi Jayanti is an occasion to reflect on how timeless principles can be integrated into the daily actions, character, and learning of our students.

Rooted in our foundational values of Leadership, Wisdom, Compassion, and Growth, the school community gathered to remember Bapu’s teachings on truth, simplicity, peace, and selfless service.

Reflecting on Gandhian Ideals Through Student Voices

To commemorate the occasion, students held thoughtful reflection sessions on campus, presenting key messages that continue to inspire humanity:

  • “Truth is the foundation of all human virtues.” Students highlighted the importance of Satya (truthfulness) in academic honesty, everyday communication, and moral integrity.

  • “Small acts of kindness can create a better world.” Aligning Bapu’s philosophy of empathy with Mother Teresa’s spirit of service, learners explored how everyday compassion within school and family environments nurtures harmony.

  • “Gandhi Jayanti: A day to remember, a life to inspire.” Group discussions centered around the Charkha—a symbol of self-reliance, patience, and dignity of labor that remains relevant in modern education.

Living the Principles of Swachhata and Ahimsa

Gandhi Jayanti at MTMS goes beyond words into concrete action:

  • Cleanliness as a Habit (Swachhata): Students participated in campus tidiness drives, taking personal responsibility for keeping classrooms, study desks, and common areas clean, honoring Gandhiji’s belief that cleanliness is next to godliness.

  • Non-Violence (Ahimsa) in Conduct: Through assemblies and classroom discussions, students were encouraged to resolve conflicts through dialogue, patience, and mutual respect, fostering a safe, peaceful campus environment.

  • Self-Reliance and Discipline: Drawing lessons from the spinning wheel (Charkha), learners reflected on the value of self-discipline, steady perseverance, and respect for all forms of honest work.

Shaping Responsible Citizens of Tomorrow

True education must build conscience alongside competence. By celebrating the life of Mahatma Gandhi, MTMS recommits to guiding young minds toward ethical leadership, grounded humility, and active citizenship.

Let us follow the path of Truth, Non-violence, Kindness, and Service for a brighter tomorrow.

Happy Gandhi Jayanti to all! 🕊️🇮🇳
