We arranged two rows of colorful cups on a table. But there was a twist: the cups were placed in an alternate pattern—one facing up and the next facing down. The Rules of the Race: Double Trouble: Students must use both hands at the same time to pick up the first two cups. The Cross-Over: Because the cups alternate positions, students have to cross their arms to pick up the next set and stack them correctly (right-side up on right-side up, and upside down on upside down!). Steady Hands: They must move through the entire row without knocking over the stacks! 🧠 Why This Activity is Great for Our Little Stars While the kids love the challenge of crossing their arms, this activity is building important foundations: Brain Boosting: Crossing the “midline” of the body helps the left and right sides of the brain communicate better. Hand-Eye Coordination: Aligning the cups perfectly takes a lot of practice and visual focus. Fine Motor Skills: Gripping and stacking the cups strengthens the small muscles in their hands, which eventually helps with writing.
