Raindrops & Creativity: Pre-Primary Students Celebrate the Season with a “Happy Monsoon” Craft Activity!
At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), we love finding creative ways to connect our students with the changing world around them. With the arrival of the refreshing rainy season, our pre-primary classrooms came alive on July 9, 2026, for a delightful and interactive “Happy Monsoon” Craft Activity.
The classroom blackboard set the perfect scene with beautiful chalk drawings of smiling rainclouds and a colorful umbrella, inspiring our little learners to dive into their own artistic projects.
Bringing the Rainy Season to Life on Paper
Armed with colorful paper sheets, glue, and crayons, our young students stepped into the role of miniature designers. The activity focused on creating a beautiful multi-dimensional monsoon scene inside their workbooks:
3D Paper Umbrellas: Students carefully folded and layered vibrant, multi-colored paper to create eye-catching 3D umbrellas that popped right off the page.
Fluffy Rainclouds: Little hands carefully glued soft blue cutout clouds at the top of their artwork.
Drawing the Rain: Using their crayons, the children drew rows of falling raindrops, completing their perfect stormy-day masterpieces.
The absolute focus on their faces as they assembled their crafts—followed by the proud moments where they held up their finished work—made the entire session incredibly rewarding.
Learning Through Crafting
While this activity brought immense joy and laughter to the classroom, it also served as an essential tool for early childhood development. By cutting, folding, gluing, and drawing, our students developed:
Fine Motor Coordination: Manipulating small paper layers and utilizing glue sticks refines hand dexterity.
Spatial Awareness: Learning how to arrange different elements (clouds at the top, umbrellas in the middle) to build a cohesive visual scene.
Creative Expression: Encouraging young minds to explore textures, shapes, and vibrant color combinations.
