A Journey of Faith and Unity: MTMS Celebrates Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026 on Campus
At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), cultural celebrations are an integral part of shaping well-rounded, compassionate individuals who remain deeply connected to our heritage. On the auspicious occasion of Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026, our campus resonated with devotional chants, ringing bells, and joyous prayers as students and faculty joined hands for a grand indoor chariot procession.
The day began with deep reverence, transforming our school corridors into a sacred space of unity, gratitude, and devotion.
Traditional Rituals and Sacred Offerings
The celebration commenced with traditional pooja and aarti performed by our faculty and leadership, invoking the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
A beautifully decorated sanctum was prepared at the entrance, adorned with vibrant flowers, incense, and traditional lamps. Keeping with timeless traditions, sacred prasad consisting of sprouted moong and black chana was offered during the ceremonies, symbolizing health, purity, and spiritual nourishment.
The Student Chariot Procession
The highlight of the event was the student-led Rath Yatra procession. Our students proudly pulled a flower-adorned miniature Rath (chariot) decorated with palm leaves and vibrant garlands through every hallway and classroom.
Accompanied by the rhythmic beat of cymbals (manjira) played enthusiastically by young learners, the procession brought the divine spirit directly to every classroom.
Students lined up on both sides with folded hands, receiving blessings and offering flower petals as the chariot passed by.
The procession concluded with a grand group prayer where students, teachers, and staff gathered together, reflecting our school’s core values of Leadership, Wisdom, Compassion, and Growth.
Teaching Values Beyond Books
Events like the Rath Yatra serve as living classrooms. By actively participating in the procession and rituals, our students learn the value of community effort, devotion, and inclusivity—reminding us that when we pull together in harmony, no hurdle is too great.
