A Divine Celebration of Innocence & Devotion: MTMS Celebrates Krishna Janmashtami 2026

At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), cultural festivals are an opportunity to nurture joy, values, and a deep appreciation for our rich heritage. On the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, our campus transformed into a vibrant Gokul filled with devotional music, bright traditional colors, and the infectious laughter of our young students.

From pre-primary to primary grades, students and faculty gathered together to welcome Lord Krishna with traditional rituals, artistic displays, and festive performances.

Sacred Traditions & The Beautiful Jhula Ceremony

The celebrations began with deep reverence:

• The Divine Jhula: A dedicated sanctum was arranged at the entrance, featuring a miniature swing (jhula) adorned with marigold garlands, fairy lights, and lush greenery for Laddu Gopal.

• Pooja & Aarti: Faculty members and students performed the traditional aarti, gently swinging the cradle and offering prayers for peace, wisdom, and good health for the entire school community.

• Art & Display Boards: Students created colorful display boards featuring sketched portraits of Lord Krishna adorned with vibrant peacock feathers (mor pankh), flutes, and traditional earthen pots (matkis).

Gokul Comes Alive: Little Radhas & Krishnas

The highlight of the event was our young learners arriving dressed in traditional attire:

• Adorable Kanhas & Radhas: Little boys wore bright yellow dhotis, crowns with peacock feathers, and held flutes, while little girls looked graceful in ghagras, floral jewelry, and traditional ornaments.

• Folk Dance & Joyful Beats: Accompanied by classic devotional melodies like “Wo Kisna Hai”, the children performed spontaneous circle folk dances, clapping in rhythm and spreading festive cheer through the hallways.

• Campus Photo Showcase: The celebration wrapped up with memorable group photos on the school steps and lobby, capturing proud smiles and festive warmth.

Instilling Joyful Values at MTMS

Beyond the festive pomp, celebrating Janmashtami teaches children timeless virtues from the life of Lord Krishna—friendship, humility, standing up for righteousness, and finding joy in everyday learning.
