The Sacred Thread of Love: MTMS Celebrates Raksha Bandhan with Craft, Care, and Tradition

At Mother Teresa Memorial School (MTMS), cultural celebrations are a cornerstone of fostering empathy, social harmony, and strong community values among our students. On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, our campus lit up with vibrant traditional colors, creativity, and heartwarming expressions of sibling love and mutual care.

Across both pre-primary and primary sections, classrooms transformed into festive hubs where students actively embraced timeless Indian traditions through artistic crafting and ceremonial rituals.

Fostering Creativity: Handmade Rakhis & Greeting Cards

The celebrations began with hands-on creative workshops designed to nurture fine motor skills and artistic expression:

  • Crafting Eco-Friendly Rakhis: Using ribbons, silk threads, colorful foam sheets, floral paper cutouts, and sparkling beads, students designed intricate, personalized Rakhis.

  • Handcrafted Greeting Cards: Children created custom cards filled with vibrant drawings, heartfelt messages, and pledges of care and support.

  • Themed Classroom Worksheets: Our younger learners carefully cut, assembled, and glued paper-flower Rakhis onto dedicated activity sheets, blending artistic fun with festive learning.

Tradition in Action: The Sacred Rakhi Ritual

Beyond the crafts, the campus celebrated the true spirit of Raksha Bandhan through traditional ceremonial rituals:

  • Pooja Thali & Tilak: Students in festive ethnic attire performed traditional aarti ceremonies with decorated brass thalis and applied auspicious tilak.

  • Tying the Thread of Protection: Young girls lovingly tied handmade Rakhis on their classmates’ wrists, exchanging sweet treats, thoughtful gifts, and promises of lifelong care and respect.

  • Inspiring Artwork: Classroom display boards and blackboards were adorned with student-drawn illustrations capturing the warmth, protection, and eternal bond of brothers and sisters.

Values Beyond the Classroom

At MTMS, festivals serve as living lessons. Raksha Bandhan offered our students a meaningful opportunity to appreciate the importance of duty, mutual respect, and family values—reminding them that care and empathy are virtues to be practiced every single day.

We extend our warm appreciation to our creative teachers for organizing these enriching activities and to our wonderful parents for their continuous support.

Wishing the entire MTMS family a very Happy and Blessed Raksha Bandhan! 🧵✨🌸
