Environment Day Celebration at Mother Teresa Memorial School

“Caring for the Earth, Our Shared Home”

Each year on June 5th, the world unites to celebrate World Environment Day—a reminder that we all share one home: our planet Earth. At Mother Teresa Memorial School, this day is more than just an event—it is a reflection of the values we hold dear: compassion, stewardship, and active service to our world and community.

This year’s theme, “Our Land. Our Future.”, reminds us of the pressing need to protect and restore our ecosystems—not just for ourselves, but for generations to come. Inspired by the legacy of Mother Teresa, who taught us the importance of small acts done with great love, our school community came together with hearts full of hope and hands ready to serve.

Activities and Initiatives

Our Environment Day celebrations included a series of meaningful activities that empowered students to connect with nature and understand the impact of their actions:

  • Tree Plantation Drive: Students from all grades participated in planting saplings around the school campus and nearby areas. Each sapling bore a message of hope and a student’s pledge to care for it.

  • Eco-Skit & Poster Competition: Children showcased their creativity and awareness through skits, speeches, and artwork that highlighted urgent issues like pollution, deforestation, and climate change—and shared powerful messages about sustainability and responsibility.

  • Cleanliness Campaign: With gloves on and hearts determined, our students cleaned up areas around the school, setting an example for the community that every effort counts.

  • Eco Pledge Ceremony: Led by our student council, we collectively took a pledge to reduce plastic use, conserve water, save electricity, and lead by example in our homes and neighborhoods.

Living the Values of Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa once said, “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
In our school, we believe that every child is that precious drop, capable of creating ripples of change. Our Environment Day celebrations are not just about awareness—they are about action, ownership, and love for all creation.

A Message to All

To our students, teachers, parents, and community—let us remember that protecting the environment is not the job of a few, but the responsibility of all. As caretakers of God’s creation, let us nurture the Earth with the same compassion we extend to each other.

Together, let us continue to plant hope, grow responsibility, and cultivate a greener, cleaner future for all.

Happy World Environment Day!
